Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa in Puerto Princesa, Palawan

I was part of the tv group behind the 2014 Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant. Last July, our team joined the candidates in Puerto Princesa Palawan for coverage of the swimwear competition. It was an hour and a half flight from Manila via sponsor airline, Skyjet. It was my second time to go to Palawan but my first experience flying chartered (which made feel like a VIP (yeehee).

The location of the shoot made the trip sooo exciting. Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa is a two-hour drive from the airport, located at a remote part of Palawan. We rode their coaster van to get there.

Arriving on a rainy Monday afternoon, there was nothing else for us to do but rest after a sumptuous buffet dinner. The weather was still gloomy the following day but it was not able to hide the beauty of the place.

Situated along Sabang Beach in Puerto Princesa, Sheridan is a six hectare complex that offers a serene and relaxing vacation.

You
can choose to swim and then ease off at the woven rattan hammocks between the coconut trees at the beachfront. But if you’re looking for an adventure, you can coordinate with the staff for activities including jetskiing, kayaking and tour at the famous underground river.

The 340 ft. long infinity pool was soooo impressive (though it’s just 4 feet deep which I find nice because I don’t know how to swim >_< ).  As you enter the resort and check in at the reception area, you will be greeted by the pool which stretches to the other end of the complex near the beachfront. The pool also have three jaccuzis and a bar at the center where you can order refreshments and liquors while you’re dipped in the water.

One of our assignments was to shoot the amenities of Sheridan with the candidates. We shot inside what they call the “Captain’s Room” which was the biggest and best among their rooms usually preferred by couples on their honeymoon. Prize is P8,500 per night. Here you can see our camera crew and two Mutya candidates.

In any out of town shoot, I always look forward to eating! It’s the time when I get a taste of delectable dishes from provinces made from fresh fruits, vegetables and seafood (i looove seafoods). Sheridan, being the sponsor for the swimwear competition, treated us to buffet meals from breakfast to dinner! Their resto-bar, Blue Bar is right at the beachfront offering Western and Filipino foods. All the ingredients were from Sheridan’s own organic farm including variants of white, brown and black rice (which they say is more healthy).

There is also a wide variety of wines and liquors. That’s me inside their wine room at the
Blue Bar.

All the rooms are air conditioned, they also have a spa which I forgot to take a picture hehe. They clean your room everyday, you can always ask for fresh towels but there are postings that encourage you to reuse towels to save water and resources. Phone and internet signals are a bit of a problem though. My globe phone and smart pocket wifi were useless, there only a few spots with good signal. Sheridan provides wifi services but only at the reception area and restaurant, the signal can’t reach the bedrooms. Inspite of these few concerns, my Sheridan experience was truly wonderful.
